Macaroni Momma Minute

Bath Salt Bombers

By Lisa G - Publisher of Concord Macaroni Kid June 12, 2017

I wanted to start a series of articles called Macaroni Momma Minute. I will include them in my newsletter every week with something new.

This will be dedicated to taking care of you. I know we are all in different stages of motherhood whether it be wishing you could just take a shower to driving your teens across town to some sporting event. I am the mom of 5. I have two older girls who are on their own, but still need mom, and my three at home that are 8, 9 and 11. I homeschool the little ones and love every minute of it. But, I need ME time and if I do not get it I can tell I get a little, maybe more than a little grumpy with everyone. I hope these articles will bring you some peace and time to reflect on what makes you, YOU!

If you see in the picture with the toy lizards, there is a story there. I make my own bath salts and even used to sell them on Etsy. I had made me a nice relaxing blend of bath salts and made the mistake of sitting it by the soaker tub. Needless to say, when I went to make a bath so I could relax and reap the benefits of healing salts, I noticed someone had already been there and used it. How dare these lizards use all of my bath salt. I decided to just leave them there and gave them the name Bath Salt Bombers. From the looks of them, they really enjoyed my relaxing bath salt blend so I thought I would share it with you all. There are different blends depending on the remedy you are looking for. I recommend playing around with blends on a q-tip until you find what you love. You will notice some are more powerful than others. Roman chamomile is very strong, but I love mixing a few drops with lavender and sweet orange. I used to call this blend Calm Spirit.

You can find the hermetically sealed glass jars at many stores and they are perfect for making your salts ahead of time and storing them. Or, if you are a mompreneur you can make them and give them and name with a label and start an Etsy shop. I love being a mompreneur.

For the epsom salt, do not buy the already scented ones, they are usually made with fragrance. You want to use genuine essential oils with a reliable source.

What you need:

  • Epsom Salt (you will find this in the pharmacy department)
  • Essential Oils
  • Jar to Store it in

Uplifting -  5 drops orange + 5 drops clove + 5 drops cedarwood + 5 drops lemon

Clear Sinuses - 10 drops eucalyptus + 10 drops peppermint

Clear Your Mind - 10 drops lemon + 10 drops rosemary

I just find epsom salt to be magical and great for so many things. In the bath it helps relieve stress and muscle aches. I have noticed how amazing my skin feels when using it. I also love bath bombs and included a site with a tutorial on making these. Super easy and super relaxing. I love bath bombs, and even the Bath Bombers that live in my home. They remind me to laugh often and be grateful I have children who love to play and enjoy bath time.

Now go and enjoy your Momma Time. Why do I hear MC Hammer singing Hammer Time when I say that? Giving my age way.
