NEW LIONFISH TO GET PANTHER’S FOOTBALL MAKEOVER AS PANTHERFISH
SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium Newest Addition Named After Panther’s New Quarterback and Coach

Charlotte, NC (July 29, 2020) – With training camp beginning, football excitement is growing for those above land and below. SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord is getting into the football spirit with its two newest additions, a pair of Lionfish, joining one currently on display.  From now until the start of the football season, the fishy fans will be nicknamed the Pantherfish after the local team. The two new additions will be named Teddy and Rhule, while the current Lionfish will be named CMC after the star running back which has been with the team for a few years. To help the new fishy team acclimate to their football fandom, SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord has also added a new Pantherfish graphic and will periodically change its exhibit to shine blue in honor of the team's colors.

Lionfish and the newly blue exhibit will be breathtaking in person, and the Aquarium is thrilled to showcase these amazing creatures. Lionfish are an excellent learning opportunity for guests to discover how invasive species can impact an area. These fish have become invasive in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico as they lack predators and eat many of the local fish and habitat. Efforts are being made to contain them and ensure they stay happy and healthy in their original habits in the Indo-Pacific region.

SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord is continuing to honor the tireless work of local medical professionals by providing complimentary tickets to healthcare heroes. For every guest who tags the attraction in a social media post during their visit, SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord will donate one ticket to a local healthcare worker from a health care partner to be announced soon. Guests are invited to snap their social media shots in the many breathtaking photo opportunities in SEA LIFE.

SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium is excited to be welcoming fans back for a day of family fun with signature experiences like walking under the ocean tunnel, spotting for Neptune, and coming face to fin with sharks. Families are encouraged to visit www.visitsealife.com/charlotte-concord to purchase tickets and check out SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord’s visit safety tips.
